MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology

The MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology is delighted to announce that Dr Thomas Nann has been appointed as the new Director of the Institute, and will start with us on 17th August. Along with this appointment, Thomas will also be Professor at Victoria University of Wellington, in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences.

Thomas is a Physical Chemist by training, and his recent research has focused on the synthesis, characterisation, and application of nanomaterials

Two prominent CoRE Directors have been appointed to the newly formed Science Board for the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The MacDiarmid Institute is pleased to sponsor two pupils who will attended the the 2009 Asian Science Camp in August in Tsukuba in Japan. Georgia Stewart, Wellington East Girls’ College and Hugh McHugh, Lindisfarne College, Hawkes Bay.

John Watt was awarded MacDiarmid Young Scientist of the Year at a ceremony in Auckland on Friday 27 August.
